PROFESSIONAL
GARDENERS' GUILD TRAINEESHIP
|
| |
You
would be one of 6 trainees on the scheme, each working in a prestigious
national Garden and moving to another garden each year for three
years. The aim is for you, while working as a trainee gardener,
to gain craft skill qualifications on formal training courses,
and at the conclusion, to find full time employment in horticulture
usually at supervisor level. The Gardens concerned pay wages and
provide accommodation but additional funding from sponsors finances
the skills courses. At the conclusion, a Diploma is awarded, based
on reports from the Head Gardeners where you have been trained.
During your training you have to submit reports, with the final
report being assessed by a sub committee. Although there is no
age limit, the tendency is for students in 25 30 age range A formal
letter of appointment is issued at the beginning of your training
scheme, but contracts of employment are with individual gardens.
