Who We Are
Studley College Trust is a charity set up by the Governors and retiring Principal of Studley College, following its closure in 1969.
It was established to encourage, assist and develop education, instruction and research in land-based subjects by financially assisting young people who wish to pursue a career in one of these areas but are restricted by financial constraints.
Our History page gives more information on the background of the College and Trust which is currently overseen by fifteen Trustees and administered through a Secretariat that can be contacted by email from the Applications page of this website.
On the successful completion of every course of study or development sponsored by a Studley College bursary, Scholars are presented with a Memento and Certificate to add to their personal portfolio.
What We Do
Studley College Trust provides financial support in the form of student bursaries for study and training activities in the land-based industries. Bursaries can be accessed through a number of routes:
- College Bursaries - The Trust has identified a number of land-based colleges who receive an annual allocation of Studley College Funds, to award to appropriate students who apply to them for support. If you are intending to study at one of the listed colleges then you should ask the college for details and make your application through their Student Services team. Full details are on the College Bursaries Page.
- Sponsored Scholarships - The Trust provides scholarships through the Professional Gardeners' Guild, Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust and Tresco Abbey Gardens. The Sponsored Scholarships page gives full details of how to apply for these awards.
- Travelling Scholarships - The Trust has made occasional bursaries available for Travelling Scholarships and Traineeships
and such applications will be dealt with by direct application. Fuller details are on the Application page.
- Other College Programmes - If you are intending to study at a college or university that is not listed on the
College Bursaries page, you can email the Studley College office and make direct application to the
Trust. Full details are on the Application page.
If you are already studying on a college course and struggling with insufficient funds, or if you plan to go to College in the coming academic year and are worried about coping on limited resources you may well be eligible for a Studley College bursary. If you go to the Eligibility page you will find the criteria set by the Trust for the award of bursaries, including the study areas that can be supported by Trust funds.
