To apply for a grant or scholarship you will have to satisfy the following conditions:
 
1) You must be less than 30 years of age and a British National normally resident in the UK.
 
2) You must have had at least 12 months practical work experience as an employee in relevant land based work.
 

3) You have insufficient funds or access to loans to pay for further study or training but you do not expect the Trust to provide the total cost of your chosen course or period of training.

 
4) Your application must be supported by two references.
 
5) Before applying to the Trust you should already have an offer of a place for a course or training program which should prepare you for your intended career in the UK or the European Community.
 

6) Support for Post Graduate studies will only be considered if the Trust is satisfied that it is an essential part of your career training and where a period of 12 months has elapsed since graduation.

 
7) Support for Doctorates and Veterinary degrees will only be considered in very exceptional circumstances.
  The Trust has a priority to help those who cannot afford the costs of a course to gain their first qualification at the start of their land based career training and therefore help for second degrees or postgraduate study takes second priority. The type of career you plan is also taken into account as the Trust seeks to fund the sort of training that will be valuable to you and of use in the production and commercial side of land based activities.
  First Step is to obtain an Application Form from the Administrator.
  Second Step Completing this you will need to give the names of two referees who know your abilities. The Administrator will send to your referees for References and if satisfactory, will arrange an interview.
  Third Step Attend the Interview to review your financial plans and prepare the case to be considered by the Trustees, or in the case of a Scholarship, by a Selection Panel. The Trustees meet in May, July and September to decide who will receive grants, and in each case the size of the grant, the decision being based on the case which the Administrator presents for each Applicant. Selection Panels for Scholarships meet about six months before the start of the Scholarship.
