I am now on my placement year, as the Technical Scholarship Placement Student, working within the pig industry for a market-leader in the UK Pig farming business.

Prior to starting this placement I had little pig experience, therefore I have learnt a great deal this year, and while the industry is currently going through many challenges, I’m very much enjoying my time here. Alongside placement work, I am also busy with university work, including preparations for my fourth-year dissertation. Having the generous funding from The Studley College Trust covered the cost of my telehandler course and enabled me to focus more on my studies prior to starting my placement year. I finish my placement in July, and intend to spend the summer working at home, as much as I have enjoyed working with pigs, I am looking forward to getting back to cattle and sheep work. Working at the family farm over summer will allow me more time to work on my dissertation, hopefully meaning I will go into my final year well-prepared.
